Shah Rukh Khan is known to churn out fresh ideas in terms of promotional strategies to keep his films top-of-the-mind till their release. This time, as a memoir to mark the completion of his project, he got the makers to capture behind-the-scenes footage of the final day’s shoot of Chennai Express.
The video featuring Shah Rukh will be available on social media from today (July 11). Co-star Deepika Padukone and director Rohit Shetty have already released their videos about 15-20 days ago. They have received a good response on Twitter.
“I wanted the audience to realise that if it was so much fun making it, it will be so much fun watching it too. Also, I think makings should come before the film’s release and this was the best way to present it on social media, where everyone understands a bit of humour and energy and sees it for what it is — fun,” says Shah Rukh.
The actor insists that even the team would relish the raw emotions they shared while shooting the film and acknowledge the work put in by the technicians, who make a film happen. “The last days of shoot are filled with the anticipation of ending a project and the emptiness that follows. We only get to see the end product, which is the final edit. There are hundreds of faceless technicians who make the film possible,” he says, adding that the videos are also a way to showcase the hard work put in by the cast in making a fun film.
Chennai Express will be co-produced by Shah Rukh. The film is this year’s big Eid release. It will be out on August 8.
